Leadership Day.

Last Friday the Year 7 & 8 students attended a leadership day at Cathedral College. The goal for the day was to gain a better understanding of what it means to be a leader and to understand that we can all be leaders in some way or another. The students had the opportunity to listen, participate and learn with other students from other Catholic schools. The day ended with a mass led by Father John.

Swimming Sports 2018

Tuesday was the 2018 swimming sports at OLA. For some who may not know, swimming sports is a competition for years 5-8 to find the best swimmers to represent the school at zone competitions. The races available were: freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke. All races for years 5-8 were 50 meters (two lengths) while year 4's took part in a "have a go"  25 meter kickboard, freestyle or backstroke swim.

The event took 4 hours, 44 races and quite a lot of waiting. As per normal, a relay was held for all the school houses. Congratulations Francis house for winning the school swimming relay!

Earthquake Memorial

Hello welcome to the Hillary Hub Blog,

As you may remember today was the memorial of the Christchurch earthquake and it is the seven year anniversary. On this sad day the Hillary Hub paid our respects to all who died and their families, during our memorial we all said this prayer:
Today is the time to pray.
Today is the time to hope.
Today is the time to mourn.
Today as a school community and as a
New Zealand community we stop to
think about and pray for those affected
by the earthquake in Christchurch
yesterday.

Here is a photo of the tree:

Hub, standing by the flowers
under the tree.
